Annual Knott Scholar Book Drive
Buy a book & give to others! Our annual Book Drive is BACK! Our Scholars will give purchased books from our registry to Baltimore City children in need this summer. Please check out the registry link for the books available to purchase from local bookstore Queen Takes Book. When you purchase a book, please be sure to “Add to Cart” directly from registry to ensure the book is pulled from our specific registry. Please note: the book will not be shipped to you! Rather, the book(s) you purchase will be held at the Queen Takes Book store until the mass distribution events happen in July. Thank you for your support of our wonderful book drive!

Building Connections
In our Knott Scholar Community, we provide unique and valuable opportunities to develop lifelong skills outside the classroom in our highly integrated Building Connections program. Most of our community events focus on service for others. Building Connections is different in that it is a personal development program during which our current and alumni high school and collegiate Knott Scholars focus on personal networking, how to introduce yourself, tell others what you are working on at school or outside of school, etc. In 2026, the theme was “Education” but in other years we will focus on Faith, Community, and Work. The 2026 event was held at Notre Dame of Maryland University on Saturday, February 7th. Over 75 people were in attendance!
To help teach the attendants how to “Make the Most of Their Education,” attendants listened and networked with community businesspeople, current Knott Scholars as well as Knott Scholar alumni as they shared their personal and professional experiences about their educational journeys, how to take risks, face failures and celebrate successes. Specifically, NDP STEAM Director Carrie Johnson along with 2 Knott Scholar parents led the opening panel discussion. Then we divided into groups and attended small group discussions led by panelists who spoke to their high school, college or grad school experiences. We even made time to enjoy team building games at the end. Thank you to all who participated!
